Apple May Release a Major iPad Pro Update in 2021
Apple has updated most of its products over the past year, and now we can see the iPad Pro lineup getting its first major overhaul since 2018. According to reports, Apple is looking to bridge the gap between tablet and laptop with its new upcoming iPad Pro models.
The company is expected to have the same 11- and 13-inch models available to buyers, but the display could be upgraded from micro-LED to OLED when it launches next year.
The Bloomberg report also mentions that Apple will make major changes to the Magic Keyboard for the 2024 iPad Pro lineup, increasing the size of the trackpad and keys with a better touch. Apple will also likely move directly to the next M3 chips for the iPad Pro models, allowing the company to improve the performance of boards like Apple’s laptop in the future.
But here’s the thing, using the M3 on an iPad is only worth it if you have a platform that can maintain its level. iPadOS has gradually become a concern for consumers, especially since the hardware has a double effect.
So, would it be better if Apple started using macOS on the iPad Pro models and kept the iPadOS platform on the regular and iPad Air models? The M3 chips should be part of a big reveal at a rumored October event where we could see new MacBooks, Mac Pros and even an iMac. Apple has completely moved away from Intel chips in Macs and even iPads, you’re left with only Apple’s 9th generation that uses an A-series chip.
The iPad Air 5-gen model already has an M-series chip, which not only gives you double the RAM, but also optimizes iPadOS features for the product. The OLED iPad Pro not only refreshes Apple’s lineup, but also gives the company room to move up in price, just as it has done with other products over the past 24 months.
